Bayou Pierre Alligator Park, Louisiana
Bayou Pierre Alligator Park is located on the outskirts of Natchitoches, Louisiana and is an interesting stop to make for a group traveling by bus charter. A five acre park dedicated to the display as well as conservation of the American Alligator, Alligator Park is both an educational and entertaining way to spend a day.
You get to see alligators of all sizes, from babies to 1000 pounders and all sizes in between living in their natural environment. If you are brave you can even get your picture taken while holding one of these beautiful creatures.
Shows are held daily, "Big Al's Feeding Show" displays the gators at feeding time. Its amazing to watch a 1000 pound alligator jump from the water for his dinner.
At the Alligator Island exhibit, visitors are safely surrounded by over 100 alligators. The Alligator Island Show, demonstrates to visitors conservation and farming techniques used to raise these amazing creatures. A 10 minute documentary provides information about the efforts to protect and conserve the American Alligator.
Alligator Park not only features alligators but houses many reptiles and lizards in the "Reptile Habitat". Home to lizards, snakes and turtles, also on display at Reptile Habitat are caiman crocodiles and stumpy the gator with no tail.
One of the cutest if not silliest displays is the "Turtle Town". A miniature town complete with houses, streets and bridges is inhabited by box turtles. The turtles crawl around as if they own the place, its a real hoot.
Alligator Park is full of Cajun flavor which means that the food and snacks are just as great as the park is, and all workers and trainers display that southern Cajun charm. Group discounts are available, making it a perfect stop for a group bus charter trip to Louisiana. Because the alligators aren't active during the cold weather its best to pick a warm time of year to visit. Call toll free at 1-877-354-7001 for details.
