The Florida Aquarium, Tampa Florida
Home to some of the most amazing sea-life in the world, the Florida Aquarium at Tampa is a must see when traveling by bus charter through Florida. Every member of the family or group will be amazed by the aquariums exhibits.
Opened in 1995 the Florida Aquarium is a non-profit institution dedicated to the conservation of the worlds marine life as well as educating the public about Floridas diverse wild life.
The Florida Aquarium houses a 500,000 gallon coral reef tank which is modeled after the Florida Keys. There are over 60 native Florida species, each nook and cranny of the reef is world into itself. The fish which live on the reef are brilliantly colored and sometimes dangerous like the moray eels. Visitors are also welcomed to see the Coral farm, which is a lab dedicated to coral reproduction.
The Invaders exhibit gives visitors the chance to see the non-native species introduced by accident or otherwise to the Florida habitat. These species sometimes wreak havoc on the local wildlife upon their introduction and can quickly become a disaster. The Florida Aquarium hopes to educate the public about this dangerous phenomenon.
The bravest amongst you may wish to Dive with the Sharks, an exhibit which puts the diver face to face with sharks from around the world. Divers get to swim in the same tank as nurse sharks, black tip reef sharks and a huge green sea turtle.
The Florida Aquarium can provide group rates for schools, boy/girls scouts as well as corporations.
