Beardsley Zoo, Connecticut
Beardsley Zoo is located in Bridgeport Connecticut and is home to some of the best zoo exhibits in the east. Close to New York City as well as New Jersey, Beardsley Zoo is a great way to spend a day when traveling by bus charter with a large group or family.
The exhibits at Beardsley Zoo are both adult and kid friendly. They offer many interactive exhibits that allow visitors to get up close and touch some of the most amazing animals from North and South America. Beardsley is home to many endangered species, and a strong member of the Animal Conservation Community.
Kids love the New England Farmyard where they get to interact, pet and feed some of their favorite farm animals. Filled with goats, sheep, cows, bunnies and chicks, the New England Farmyard also offers story telling and crafts for the little ones.
The Predator Walk exhibit includes many of North and South Americas most amazing predators. This exhibit offers a close up look at predators such as Tigers and Wolves. Along the way you may even get a chance to see bald eagles or an Andean Bear.
One of the largest greenhouses in Connecticut is located at Beardsley Zoo. Plants such as cacti, banana trees and orchids are on display, while the rest of the greenhouse is dedicated to growing many of the plant species that are used throughout the zoo's grounds and exhibits.
The Peacock Cafe is a great stop for a quick meal. You can eat indoors or out, the menu varies but is always delicious and kid friendly. You can also bring a picnic basket and use one of the many tables available.
